COVID-19 Update
During these uncertain times, SIU’s EWB chapter wishes the best for everyone and hopes that everyone reading this is safe. As we are all aware, COVID-19 has made a huge impact around the world and our chapter is no exception. Because SIU will be closed over the summer, our normal on-campus meetings are transiting to virtual meetings held via Microsoft Teams. If you are not yet a part of EWB and are looking to join, please email one of the officers and they will add you to our chat so you can get the latest information. Stay safe and enjoy the break!
About Us
EWB-USA is a nonprofit organization created to support worldwide community-driven partnerships to design and implement sustainable engineering projects. Engineers Without Borders at Southern Illinois Carbondale is a student chapter of EWB-USA. We were established in 2007 and since then we have had projects in El Sauce, Honduras, Pimienta, Honduras, Las Mojarras, Guatemala and Junco Marca, Bolivia. Joining SIU EWB means gaining experience in design, community partnership, teamwork, and leadership.
Our Mission
The mission of Engineers Without Borders is to build a better world through engineering projects that empower communities to meet their basic human needs and equip leaders to solve the world’s most pressing challenges. In addition to this national mission, the SIU chapter aims to develop project development skills in members.
